Skiers can carve tracks on two faces of Kimberley’s North Star Mountain in the Purcell Range of the Rockies. At first glance, the front side may leave hardcore steep divers feeling a bit left out, but thrill seekers can find what they want with little trouble. Kimberley's backside is scattered with the runs that get the adrenaline pumping and the heart pounding. And Kimberley features not just one, but two snowboard parks and for hardcore skiing enthusiasts there’s night skiing after Christmas.
Kimberly
The city of Kimberley—known as the "Bavarian City of the Rockies"—is only minutes from the base of the resort. In the German-themed Platzl shopping area of town, you’ll find arts, culture and a wide range of fine dining restaurants and shops. Like most of the ski resorts in eastern British Columbia, Kimberley offers great snow and slightly milder conditions than its Alberta neighbours. On the downside, the milder weather limits the length of the ski season.
At the End Of The Day
For folks who want to ski out of their hotel door, there's a Marriott Hotel at the base of the hill along with other chalets and townhouses. Nice hotels and restaurants are great, but it's the hill that keeps them coming back to this little gem in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia.
