For the Banff tourist who is looking for a quick hiking fix just minutes away from the hotel, Tunnel Mountain trail is the answer.
Profile Last Updated: May 11, 2007
A short, easy and accessible 2.3-kilometre hike, the trail is one of the oldest in the park and one of the most popular in the Banff area.

The hiker climbs through a thick forest of pine and Douglas fir on the western flank of Tunnel Mountain to reach the mountain's summit. The summit, just 300 metres above the town site, offers an impressive mountain vista and a great view of the Banff Springs Golf Course, sprawled far below the trail's destination.
Starting Point: At St. Julien Road, just north of the Banff Centre, or at the trail sign on Tunnel Mountain Drive (which reduces the hiking distance to 1.8 km).
