A pretty alpine course
Considered one of the prettiest alpine courses in Alberta, as well as one of the best kept secrets in the area, Wintergreen wastes no time making a golfer think. The par-5 first hole is reachable in two shots, if you want to be aggressive. Just beware: water runs along the left-hand side and trees and bush line the right fairway. Challenging enough for the expert golfer, yet friendly enough for the beginner, Wintergreen winds its way through trees, open valleys and rolling hills.
Water has its place at Wintergreen
Noted local architect Bill Newis routed the 18 holes through a thick pine and spruce forest where water comes into play on 13 holes and the elevation changes afford great views on this course, built in 1989. The clean mountain air is always refreshing, and helps clear a golfer's mind. That's good because decisions have to be made starting on the first hole.
Amenities
Wintergreen is a full service club with a well appointed club house, pro shop, outdoor driving range, putting green, practice chipping area and practice bunker. The 18-hole Championship course has both power cart and pull cart rentals, club rentals, club repairs, a CPGA professional offering golf lessons. Dress code is in effect and tee time reservations are recommended.
