Joel has been active on the Edmonton scene for more than 15 years, establishing himself as a versatile player who is well respected by his musical peers. He is also a busy clinician and educator, teaching at MacEwan College, Keyano College and the University of Alberta.

Joel is the director of the Littlebirds Big Band, and plays lead trumpet in the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra. He has performed with many artists and ensembles, including the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Pro Coro, the Don Berner Sextet and the Retrofitz. Joel has also worked on stage alongside such greats as Tommy Banks, George Hayden, Kent Sangster and PJ Perry, to name just a few.
